What Can You Expect For NEET 2020?
One question on the mind of every student preparing for NEET 2020 is what they can expect this year. The NEET syllabus is fairly settled but variations in the types of questions and the way they are presented do occur to keep the examination pattern in line with the CBSE syllabus and question pattern for the year.
Here is what you can expect for NEET 2020.
The Examination Pattern
- The examination will continue to be in the offline mode so the traditional pen and answer paper system will remain.
- The subject will be Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology).
- There will be a total of 180 questions to be answered.
- The questions will be multiple choice with 4 answer options to choose from.
- The examination will be of 3-hour duration.
- There will be 4 marks awarded for each correct answer.
- There will be 1 negative mark (a 1-mark deduction) for each wrong answer.
Competition Is Increasing
The number of candidates is rising every year. In 2018 13.26 lakhs students applied for NEET. In 2019 the number was 15.19 lakhs. In 2020 15.94 lakh students have applied.
One way of anticipating what NEET 2020 will be like is to look at the 2019 examination. That year the Physics section was very complex, and candidates were required to do lengthy calculations. Chemistry, on the other hand, had much easier questions and scores here were high. As for Biology, the questions were more conceptual and were designed to test the candidates understanding of concepts in Botany and Zoology.
Nothing Is Certain
Understanding the NEET system and having an idea of what to expect is important. However, that does not mean that preparation should be based only on what is expected. There is always the possibility of a difference between expectation and reality. What this means is that your preparation for NEET must be well rounded and cover all areas and not be focussed on probabilities that may not materialize. NEET is where your future begins, and this is not something you can afford to take chances with.
Proper Preparation - The Key To Success
Preparing for NEET requires intense study and adequate time. To do well, you cannot take chances and ignore topics and possible questions you are uncomfortable with or are not sure about. NEET is designed to test your basic knowledge and suitability for the medical profession. If the authorities feel that changes in the questions or focus areas need to be made, they will do it.
The only way to prepare properly and acquire the knowledge and skills to do well in the examination is to get expert help in the form of online tutorials. Expert teachers that have both specialized domain knowledge, as well as extensive experience in the NEET system, will be best placed to guide your preparation so that you are equipped with the tools to succeed.
