ROSACEA SYMPTOMS AND TREATMENTS

Are you witnessing redness and ring-shaped eruptions in your face similar to pimples? There is a possibility that you may have Rosacea. It is an acute facial skin disease, which triggers inflammation in the face. Rosacea requires proper and timely treatment, or else the condition worsens. This skin condition is a common occurrence among light-skinned people.

There are four types of Rosacea:

  • Erythematotelangiectatic Rosacea: It is a subtype where patients witness redness and intermittent flushing.

  • Ocular Rosacea: This type of Rosacea leads to redness of the eyes/eyelids and skin irritation.

  • Phymatous Rosacea: Patients encounter issues such as skin thickening and having a rough skin texture.

  • Papulopustular Rosacea: It leads to redness, swelling, and breakouts similar to acne.

If you see any redness and eruption in your face, the first thing you should do is to consult an esthetician, who can diagnose and confirm if it is Rosacea or something else. If you live in or around California, you can consult an esthetic skin care clinic in San Jose.

What are the Causes of Rosacea?

As of now, there has not been any established reason behind Rosacea. However, studies and skincare experts suggest that many factors contribute to this skin condition's occurrence. According to skin experts, one such cause is anomalies in blood vessels in the face, resulting in redness, flushing, and vessel visibility.

Besides, studies show that rosacea patients' skin usually has a higher percentage of tiny skin mites or microscopic mites. The mites exist within human skin and harmless, and they have another name, "Demodex folliculorum." However, there could be a direct relation between higher facial mites and Rosacea.

Researchers also mention that the Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori), which usually exists in our stomach, contributes to having Rosacea. This bacterium triggers bradykinin production, a peptide that leaves a dilating effect on blood vessels and potentially leads to this skin condition.

People who have had this condition say that stress is another factor that causes Rosacea. The inner tension of your mind often has an outer or physical manifestation in the form of Rosacea.

If you are going through a lot of stress, your body will function to compensate, and Rosacea results from that process within the skin. Just be patient, as this skin disease is curable. All you need is to consult a reputable skin care clinic in San Jose.

What are the Signs of Rosacea?

The common symptoms of Rosacea are below:

  • Inflammation (pimple-like eruption): Rosacea causes inflammation and leads to eruptions like pimples. However, unlike acne, the skin does get blackheads due to Rosacea.

  • Persistent redness: This is due to the dilation of hundreds of tiny facial blood vessels, which may look red like a suntan. The redness often lasts long.

  • The Facial skin becomes hyperactive: When Rosacea occurs, skin becomes too sensitive or hyperactive, particularly direct sunlight causes skin irritation as the sensitive blood vessels dilate. This is similar to people with sensitive skin, but sensitive skin cells do not trigger them; instead, it happens due to sensitive blood vessels.

  • Rhinophyma: When Rosacea gets worse, patients may encounter a situation where the facial skin may appear to thicken, particularly around or near the nose. This abnormal condition can make the nose appear rounder, larger, and fatter.

  • Puffy face: Patients may encounter an annoying condition due to the buildup of fluid in the face due to extra fluids' leakage. It also occurs due to the inability of the lymphatic system to flush out fluids. Discuss this issue with a skincare clinic in San Jose about the course of action.

  • Flushing: Patients with Rosacea may experience flushing for a few minutes and feel uncomfortable due to skin heating.

  • Inflammation of blood vessels: Among rosacea patients, the blood vessels or capillaries on the nose could be swelling in the cheeks and may look blotchy as the condition worsens.
