Healthcare in the Post COVID-19 World

COVID-19 has changed the way we look at health and healthcare. Health can no longer be taken for granted, even among the most healthy. Coronavirus has shown us that the challenges to our health are constantly evolving and the only way to stay fit, healthy and active is to monitor one’s health status regularly and take corrective or pre-emptive action to avoid illness as and when required. According to leading international experts, the following will be the growing trends in medicine and healthcare in the days to come.

New Ways to Health

Online Health Information: Almost everyone has access to the internet today and information on every possible subject is now easily available. The problem is of how reliable that information is. This is especially true in the case of healthcare. COVID-19 has shown how quickly false information and fake news can spread and the harm that it can do. To base your health care on information from an unknown and unverified source is unsafe. Even if the source is a reputed one, a detailed examination and lab tests will be required for an accurate diagnosis so that the right treatment may be prescribed. This is impossible online, which is why using internet as a source for healthcare guidance is dangerous.

Alternate Medicine: Alternate systems of medicine have their followers and there have been many claims of successful treatment of many illnesses – even in cases where traditional/western medicine has not succeeded. Research says that alternate medicine can be useful, but it should be used under the supervision of a doctor, to supplement other forms of treatment, either to cure the disease or prevent it.

Using Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): In the future, we can expect the use of face masks and shields, gloves and hand sanitizers to become a way of life. This is undoubtedly a positive step, but it cannot guarantee that you will not contract COVID-19 or other contagious diseases, no matter how frequently you wash your hands. To rely on PPE to keep you safe is to be dangerously overconfident.

The Right Protection

As can be seen, the current and growing trends in obtaining healthcare and information have serious flaws and may, in many cases, do far more harm than good. New trends, not available today, may emerge in the future, but the risks remain. The only safe and reliable way to protect your health and get the treatment you need is to go to a highly reputed hospital that has the doctors, medical equipment and support staff to provide world-class healthcare. Such a hospital will have specialized departments and healthcare packages to suit all needs so that patients can be sure of receiving the best possible care to protect their health and recover from illness if they do fall sick. The best of these hospitals will also offer home care services for those who are unable to commute.

An established system of healthcare from a leading hospital is and always will be the best way to care for your health.
