Eldon Nygaard wrote South Dakota{s Farm Winery Act in 1996. Together with his wife, Sherry, son, Leif, and daughter, Jeanette, they started the first winery in South Dakota by establishing Valiant Vineyards, South Dakota Bonded Winery Number One. Valiant Vineyards Winery, located on the Vermillion River and overlooking the Missouri River is ideally situated close to downtown Vermillion, home of the University of South Dakota. When you visit, you are invited to taste our wines, meander through the Tasting Room, and meet our staff.
