Dogwood Pet Lodge is family owned and operated. Mike and Pat have livedin the Hudson Valley since 1965 and are very involved in managing DogwoodPet Lodge, however Allison is responsible for the main care of all the dogs:I have loved dogs since I was a little girl. I grew up in Hurley, NY and we always had a dog. Brutus was my first best friend. After he passed we soon adopted Linus and then there was Brodie and then Cisco. I attended schoolsin Kingston and went to college at SUNY New Paltz. After college I moved to Atlanta and got a job at an advertising agency. After many years I felt I was at a point in my life that I was ready for a dog of my own and adopted Tracker when he was 3 months old from Atlanta Pet Rescue. Only a few months later through the same rescue I tried to foster Layla but in 2 weeks adopted her myself! I absolutely loved having both dogs! After being in Atlanta for 8 years I decided I wanted to move back to the northeast and moved to Boston with my dogs. I soon got another job working at an ad agency in downtown Boston, however a few years later I was laid off. I then fell into the perfect job... working for a dog care company. A girl who was walking dogs for many years after losing her airline industry job was opening up a whole retail, grooming and doggy daycare right on my street! Since she often saw me with my 2 big dogs she asked me to join her team and I realized I wasn’t a corporate career kind of girl after all. Dogs were my calling so I gladly became a dog walker and worked with many different breeds of dogs over the next 5 years. It is with all my heart and passion for dogs that I was then ready for my next chapter moving back to my home area and making the former Dogwood Kennels my own.
