Kachina Cleaners is a third generation, family owned and operated business. We opened our doors at 40th Street and Indian School in 1959. Although we have a long history in Phoenix, our Dry Cleaning roots began in Cleveland Ohio, with a partnership in 1928. In 1929 our Papou decided to set out on his own and open a new store. It was a mom and pop operation run by Yiaya and Papou (the Greek word for grandmother and grandfather). In 1937, it was time to improve the operation with a bigger store that included pickup service from other dry cleaners. In those days hats were also common everyday items. Their son Dean was cleaning two to three hundred hats a week, except for Easter when that increased to over 500 hats.
