The American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) is an international veterinary organization that is committed to maintaining excellence in the field of veterinary medicine. In the 1930s, a group of veterinarians set out to establish standards that doctors could use in their day-to-day practices to raise the level of care being provided to household pets.Today, there are approximately 3,200 AAHA-accredited veterinary hospitals nationwide. Participation is voluntary; hospitals that choose to be assessed are evaluated on 900 standards of veterinary care and business practices. Consultants regularly visit accredited facilities to ensure continued compliance in quality of care, diagnostics, pharmacy, management, medical records, facility, and more.
