About Us...
Chairman and Publisher Robert G. "Bob" Hoig of MBJ Inc. of Nebraska started his Omaha-based weekly Midlands Business Journal in 1975, pinning its survival hopes on telling the growth stories of area businesses in a fair and interesting way. His vision was that the Omaha, Lincoln, Nebraska statewide and Council Bluffs (Iowa) areas did not need yet another media outlet targeting corruption, vice, greed and failure. He felt, however, that the region would welcome a fresh voice telling about businesses, their leaders and the economic facts propelling the organizations.
