The Fairbanks North Star Borough libraries consist of the Noel Wien Library in Fairbanks, the North Pole Branch Library in the nearby community of North Pole, and the Bookmobile which brings Library services to outlying areas such as Ester, Two Rivers, Salcha, Haystack, assistive living, and the homebound.The libraries are supported in part by the Fairbanks Library Foundation, a local non-profit organization and by the Friends of the North Pole Library.The libraries also have a volunteer Library Commission whose members are appointed by the Mayor and approved by the Assembly. The Library Commission represents the public, advises the Director on library policies, and hears public appeals related to Library materials.
