About

Addressing the need for a high quality bakery Ovens of France opened its doors in 1997. The heart of the bakery, an open-view kitchen, produces the most exquisite array of artisanal and confectionary masterpieces from only the best ingredients. Fresh, french breads and cheeses, along with jams, jellies, tarts, and European coffees fill the shelves, while the locally famous stuffed croissants and chocolate mousse continue to entice our guests. Handcrafted products and returning visitors greeted by name help bring cozy café life to the neighborhood. Ovens of France opened its doors in 1997 in the delightful Sherman Village in the heart of Woodbury. Aspiring to bring the finest quality bakery creations to Connecticut in a relaxing setting, the country café delivers (adventure/elation) excitement to all the senses.Owner Denis Niez, before leaving for Switzerland, attended school in France at the famous Escole de la Boulangerie and continued to follow his passion for pastry to Miami, and eventually New England. His worldly experiences, as well as having a chef for a father and a pastry chef for a brother, enhance his ability to serve up both admired and desired tastes. When away from his ovens Denis enjoys triathlons and twenty-four hour endurance mountain bike races.
