As a boy growing up in West Hartford Connecticut, during the forties, there was a little joint a few blocks away called The Circle Shop. It was an Italian sandwich shop owned and operated by Italian Immigrants and, boy, were they good cooks.Each week the 3 Granter boys would pool their resources (25 cents), walk a half a mile and get their weekly treat, a grinder split 3 ways. How have we improved on this wonderful morsel? We are now hand-making, rolling-out and baking the bun, using our in-house french bread. The same quality of meats, cheeses, dressings and toppings are now snuggled between the finest bread.
