During his last two years of the dental program, Dr. Chao received recognition for his role as a mentor to other dental students at the USC Mobile Dentistry Clinic, a group that provided dental care for elementary school children in nine school districts in Los Angeles and Orange Counties. Concurrent with his course work he also joined "Ayuda", ("Help" in Spanish), a group that went to Mexico to provide dental care to patients in need.
