Chris & Kathy Helfer were married in 1976. In 1977, newlyweds Chris and Kathy ventured out to use their training and experience in the bakery business. They purchased a small bakery in Arnold, MO. After getting their "feet wet" in operating a bakery, they bought a 2nd location in Ballwin, MO.They decided that they wanted to "get back to their roots" in Florissant, MO. So in 1980, they opened an outlet on St. Ferdinand Street as a stepping stone to their ambition and dream of having one full-service {quality{ bakery in their hometown.That "dream" came to reality in August of 1992. The other locations were closed and the new home of HELFER{S PASTRIES at 380 St. Ferdinand Street was opened.
