Ross Young is the youngest of five children, born 1926 in Indiana. His father and Uncle, around 1911, undertook photographing groups of laborers in lumber camps, selling these images to the hardworking lumberjacks. Around 1931 Ross{s father began taking more seriously his ambitious hobby with Ross{s cousin Howard, deciding to make a career in photography.
