About

Over the years I tried my hand at baking various things including breads. I love bread and enjoy the challenge of creating a tasty loaf tha’s still good a couple days after baking. In addition to baking and cooking, I enjoy catering and have catered for friends, family, and businesses/groups for over 20 years. With economic change and my husband’s impending loss of employment in 2009, I began the process of opening a bakery in downtown Monroe. Market research showed a need for a community bakery. After many months of preparation, waiting for a building, remodeling and getting an old building to code, Boomerang Bakery finally opened its doors on April 15, 2010.Many ask about our name. I’m an Aussie and proud of it. We threw around many different names but my son Robert said “Mom, call it boomerang because you want people to come back.” So Boomerang Bakery it is.Boomerang Bakery is more than just a community bakery. We have a mission. The Boomerang offers quality baked goods at affordable prices. We are happy to accept FoodShare cards, thus providing one more place for folks finding themselves in difficult economic times to purchase healthy bakery products. What products we are unable to recycle into other baked goods, we donate to local organizations such as Orion Girls Home, Crave Youth Program (Crossroads Community Church), United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Green County EMS, and Monroe Police Department. All monetary tips are donated to Jeremiah’s Hope , an organization founded by my son, Andrew Kelly, to serve the orphans of Ukraine. Jesus tells us to take care of the widows and orphans. The Boomerang hopes to do just that through its ongoing tip donations to Jeremiah’s Hope.
