Born to a NWA furniture family, local Rogers business Downs Furniture owned by Derwood Downs in 1960{s. Darlene Johnson par-laid her family’s keen business sense into a purchasing position at Wal-Mart’s general offices.  Her five year tenure there proved invaluable as she expanded into purchasing and materials management with a variety of Southern California large electronic firms. Her creative side got the best of her and founded the consulting firm “Procure” to assist small business in developing purchasing and inventory systems.  In addition to being a proponent of women in business, she has always been an advocate of value, quality, and that all items can always be re-purposed. In 2009, Darlene returned to Rogers to re-invent their family’s heritage by testing receptivity by opening a softly used furniture store.  She turned this good idea into a great new concept of re-using, re-purposing, and re-cycling softly used furniture by consigning estate items and placing them in a homey designed setting. Darlene’s new store, “DÉCOR by consign & design” offers consignment for clients that do not want crowds visiting their home, or making appointments they do not keep.  DÉCOR offers a place where others can purchase re-cycled, re-purposed, or re-invented items at reasonable prices. What a way to make something old new again!
