Bizzy Bee Preschool is a warm, safe and stimulating Early Childhood Centre that provides a positive, caring environment for infants, toddlers and young children. We recognise individual interests, needs, and strengths; nurturing the development of self esteem, confidence, independence and an interest of learning. We support the cultural identity of all children and their families who attend, and encourage children to gain an awareness of their own and other cultures.All programme planning, evaluating and assessment is based on the early childhood curriculum (Te Whāriki); each child receives a portfolio which documents their ongoing learning through learning stories, photos, artwork and snapshots of their day. Children that are under two years old have a daily notebook where teachers write in their daily happenings, it is a good way of communicating with parents about how the child’s day has been.We endeavour to go on excursions at least once a term. We also go on local short distance walking excursions as often as possible.We run an extension group for four year olds, where they develop readiness for school; they also have a homework book to take home weekly, which is optional.
