Next Generation Childcare is a family run centre with long standing links to the local community. Our buildings were previously family homes, but are now sole purpose childcare centre{s providing quality care and education in an enjoyable home like environment. Our childcare is interlinked with our infant centre, in the same locality.
Established in 1991 we view our business as an ever-evolving environment. As we strive for excellence in all aspects of Early Childhood Education we are constantly reviewing, updating and seeking out new ways of learning.
Over the last few years Next Generation has been involved in action research and has had articles published in Education journals. Our most recent research on Information Communication Technology in Early Childhood has seen our teachers present at many conferences and workshops throughout New Zealand. It has also meant our centres have had a constant stream of visiting teachers who will in turn incorporate our ideas in their own teaching.
We enjoy an informal atmosphere designed to engage children{s natural curiosity and support their learning.
Our new outdoor play area provides children with the space to explore the natural environment use their initiative and make sense of the world. Inside, flexible curriculum areas encourage children to make their own choices, extend their imagination and creativity while working towards independence in an environment that cares and shows respect for others.
Although ICT plays a large role in our centre, we see it enhancing a developmentally appropriate curriculum enriched with art, literacy and numeracy.
The Next Generation online Daily Diary is used extensively with children and adults to document the emergent curriculum and to communicate with families and the wider community. E-portfolios and Profile Books present the child{s educational journey while they attend the centre.
Next Generation is not just a business, education is a passion. This has been recognized with two teachers receiving the National Excellence in Teaching Award in 2006 and 2010.
We encourage family involvement. Through shared knowledge, support from families and a commitment to children{s learning we aim to expand children{s horizons and help to foster caring and achieving young individuals.
