We propose to achieve our vision through a not-for-profit organization which we have incorporated in Mumbai. Our first program was to establish a St. Jude ChildCare Centre at the Mhaskar Hospital in Mumbai. We entered into a 10 year agreement to secure premises for up to 8 children suffering from cancer and their immediate families. Our second program - completed in November 2007- expanded our vision to care for up to 14 additional children and their parents at our new centre within the Indian Cancer Society Building in Mumbai. Funding for the second centre was generously donated by the R. Jhunjhunwala Foundation.Our third centre - opened in November 2008 - also in partnership with the Indian Cancer Society, was funded by a generous donation from McKinsey Kinderhilfe and is located in the same building as centre two.Our fourth, fifth, sixth and seventh centres were developed in partnership with the Tata Memorial Centre, comprising at the Advanced Centre for Treatment, Research and Education in Cancer (ACTREC) in Kharghar, New Bombay. These four new centres house 41 units, including a unique BMT facility, the first of its kind in India.Since then, we have opened a new Centre in Kolkata with 17 units. Our eight Centres offer a total of 96 Family Units and further Centres are planned for the year ahead.We are also very proud of the fact that our total administrative costs are less than 4% of our income due to the kind support of our team of volunteers and team members who gratiously give their time and expertise.We chose St. Jude as he was the patron saint of desperate causes. Admission will be granted to any needy child regardless of religion or community.
