The madras electric trades association, popularly known as META was established in the year 1942. Today, about 1650 members are part of this body, which was formed with the primary aim to restore price stability for electrical products that are imported. Now the role of the association has widened broadly to include protecting the trading community, educating the members on various aspects of the trade including government regulation apart from organizing exhibitions to create trade awareness.
