Dr. Montessori was an Italian physician and educator, as well as one of the first females to receive her medical degree in Italy in 1896. She had then gone on to pursue a career in medicine where she had worked with children with developmental disabilities and mental illnesses. In 1906 Montessori had been invited to oversee a program designed for children with low-income families and working parents in San Lorenzo district in Rome where she had applied her works and methods to these children. From then on Montessori had spread her magic and creativity.
